A winner & A Loser

I have just come back from my Village Jubilee Street Party.  It was so nice to sit in the sun with fellow villagers eating and drinking.  I felt so sorry for all those people who organised events yesterday in the rain.  Us British are pretty resilient though and keep going through most adverse weather conditions!  I love all the bunting up and the general feeling of merriment in the air which we only really see at Christmas!  I was however not a winner but a loser at our village cake competition.  The theme was Commonwealth.  I was very proud of my cake which was a crown and then little cupcakes in the sea with flags from all the Commonwealth countries in.  I was hopeful until I took it over to the village hall and put it on the table amongst the other cakes that were all absolutely amazing.  I didn't win but am proud enough to show you a couple of pictures of it.

Despite the fact that today I was not a winner I do have a winner of my Jubilee giveaway Yippeee.  The WINNER is Deborah from 'Bee Happy' http://beehappyhome.blogspot.co.uk/.  She has won a cute George V cup from his Silver Jubilee in 1935 that she chose from my shop www.thenostalgickitchen.co.uk.  Thanks for entering my giveaway Deborah and well done!!
Enjoy the rest of your Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend everybody
I'm off for another Pimms - Tally Ho!!!!

Fabulous Fair In The Sun

A wonderful day was had by all on Saturday at the Jubilee Vintage & Handmade Fair at Spinney Hill in Northampton.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the customers just kept coming!!
Mum and I got all dressed up and felt the part.

I chatted to lots of friends I had made on facebook and through my blog who had come along to either do a stall or support the day.  My lovely facebook and fair friend Cherry from Merimans Vintage Jamboree was on the stall next to me and we had a good chin wag in between serving customers.

The weather could not have been better and the atmosphere was fab!  I'm all fired up now for my next fair this Saturday at Stamford.  If you are at a loss for something fun to do this weekend pop along to Stamford and come and see all the vintage treasures on offer.  Make sure you come and say hello to me. xxx

Bottle Feeding Lambs

This morning at 7am I helped my friend feed her baby lambs that have lost their mums ( I won't go into detail) and are now being bottle fed.  I am in charge next Tuesday for the early morning and the lunchtime feed!!  They are so gorgeous.

They are sleeping in a little dairy and then go out in yard during the day and play and sunbathe.  They don't have names yet they are just little blue, big blue, little orange and big orange due to the colour of the numbers on their sides.  My friend is going to keep them in her paddock when they are big enough.  She was keeping them in her house until her dad said she could keep them at his house where there are outbuildings!  That is why she is my friend because she doesn't think it's mad to keep lambs inside if they've got nowhere else to go.

I've had such a lovely start to my day I hope it continues!!

Gushing with excitement!

Just a quick post to share my joy at my lovely recovered Lloyd Loom Ottoman.

I bought the ottoman from a carboot sale for £5 and it was in a bit of a state.  I cleaned it up and gave it lots of love and then went on a hunt for some fabric to recover the lid.  I found the fabric at yet another carboot sale for £2 and have enough left over for two cushions and maybe even another project!  I watched the Sound of Music the other day for the millionth time and just love the bit where Maria makes playclothes for the children out of her curtains!  As I'm not a governess I'm thinking bandanas for the dogs or bunting?
Anyway am gushing with excitement with how lovely my ottoman looks for the grand price of £7!!
